The 2015 Pan American Games racquetball competition will begin Sunday in Toronto, and already there is good news, as the International Racquetball Federation (IRF) announced that racquetball will be in the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru.
Racquetball was introduced to the Pan Am Games in 1995 in Argentina. It’s been in each Pan Am Games since, except 2007 in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil. It’s great news that racquetball will be in again in 2019.
No live streaming
We’ve seen some people asking about live streaming of matches from Toronto. Understand that like the Olympics, the Pan American Games is is a major sporting event, and as such, broadcasters have paid big money for the rights to broadcast the games. Thus, they have control over live media coverage of the event.
The CBC (www.cbc.ca) has live streamed some of the events over the web, and they have had some events on television, although few have been live, which has gotten them plenty of criticism. Thus, it’s unclear whether there will be any live racquetball coverage in Toronto. Perhaps there will be via a Spanish language channel.
