USA Racquetball Intercollegiate Champions

The 2019 USA Racquetball Intercollegiate Championships concluded on the weekend in Tempe, Arizona on the Arizona State campus. We’ve put this year’s top four players in the record with other top four finishers going back to 2006. USA Racquetball announced that the 2020 Intercollegiate Championships will be hosted by Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, March 25-28, 2020.

This year Carla Muñoz (Colorado State, Pueblo) had a chance to become the only woman to win four Women’s Singles titles, but was beaten by Hollie Scott (Washington) in the final, so Muñoz finishes her college career with three Intercollegiate titles tying her with Kristen Walsh (2001, 2003 & 2004) and Tammy Brockbank (1995-1997).

Erik Garcia (Colorado State, Pueblo) won back to back titles in Men’s Singles Intercollegiate Champions, so he’s the first man to do that since Jose Rojas (Delta College) won in 2009 and 2010. Garcia alao won Men’s Doubles for the second year in a row, and he’s only the 2nd player to do that. Ben Croft - another Colorado State, Pueblo player - won Men’s Singles and Doubles in three consecutive years, 2005-2007, and also won doubles in 2004.

Garcia’s team-mates Brenda Laime and Adriana Riveros (Colorado State, Pueblo) won Women’s Doubles, which was hardly a surprise as they are both highly ranked players on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT). Laime is 16th and Riveros 10th. Oregon State’s Natalie Lorati and Lexi York were runners up for a second straight year.
