Conrrado Moscoso, Alejandro Landa and Rodrigo Montoya have won the last three International Racquetball Federation (IRF) Men’s Singles World Championships, and on Friday they all took another step towards winning the biggest prize on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT): the US Open, as they won their respective quarterfinal matches at the 2022 US Open at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Moscoso defeated IRT #3 Samuel Murray, 15-7, 15-2, and Landa eked out a victory over 4th seed Eduardo Portillo, 15-14, 15-10. Then Montoya defeated Jake Bredenbeck, 15-13, 15-14, and he’ll face Landa in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Moscoso and Murray were close in the first game of their match, but after being tied at 6-6 Moscoso outscored Murray 24-3 in winning the match in two straight games.
The other quarterfinal match also involved a former IRF Men’s Singles World Champion in Rocky Carson, who's a five time World Champion. But on Friday he lost to Andree Parrilla, 15-9, 15-14. Parrilla will play Moscoso on Saturday.
The IRT semi-finals will be Saturday afternoon at 2:10 and 3:10 PM with the final Sunday at 1:10 PM.
