Another round, another big upset at the 2023 International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Golden State Open in Pleasanton, California. This time it was 7th seed Eduardo Portillo defeating IRT #2 Jake Bredenbeck, 15-10, 15-13, in the quarterfinals. Bredenbeck’s loss, combined with IRT #1 Daniel De La Rosa’s quarterfinal win over 8th seed Andrés Acuña, 11-15, 15-9, 11-8, mean that De La Rosa will finish #1 for the 3rd straight year.
In the other quarters, IRT #3 Conrrado Moscoso defeated IRT #6 Adam Manilla, 15-6, 15-11, and IRT #4 Rodrigo Montoya beat veteran Rocky Carson, 15-1, 15-13. Thus, the semi-finals will be De La Rosa versus Montoya and Moscoso versus Portillo.
The singles semi-finals will be Saturday at 2:45 and 3:30 PM with the final at 11:45 AM Sunday. The doubles semi-finals will be at 11 and 11:45 AM Saturday, and the final Saturday at 7:15 PM.
