Number 1 will take on number 2 in the final of the 2022 Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) 2022 LPRT Sweet Caroline Open in Greenville, South Carolina, as Paola Longoria faces Alexandra Herrera - the #1 and #2 LPRT players, respectively, for the third consecutive LPRT final. Both players were dominant in their respective semi-final matches. Longoria beat 5th seed Jessica Parrilla, 15-2, 15-6, and Herrera defeated 11h seed Kelani Lawrence, 15-8, 15-3.
Parrilla actually scored the first two points of game one against Longoria, only to see Longoria get 15 unanswered points to win the game 15-2. Game two was closer, and Parrilla worked hard with several sideouts, but the score was still lop-sided at 15-6 for Longoria.
Herrera and Lawrence’s match had a similar story. Herrera went up 12-1 on Lawrence in game one, and went on to win it 15-8. That Lawrence got some points late suggested game two might be more even, but Herrera again took a big lead getting 11 points before Lawrence even got 1.
Right now, Longoria and Herrera are the cream of the LPRT, and we’ll see which of them rises to the top in the final later today.
