2015 US Open - LPRT Qualifying Results

The Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) competition is underway at the 2015 United Healthcare US Open in Minneapolis, and already we've had some exciting tie-breaker matches. In singles, Laura Brandt narrowly defeated Lynn Fonseca, 6-11, 11-7, 3-11, 12-10, 11-9, and Naomi Wakimoto beat Youngock Lee, 11-6, 6-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6.

Also, Monserrat Mejia needed five games to defeat Aisling Hickey, 10-12, 11-4, 4-11, 11-7, 11-9, Andrea Martinez Gonzalez beat Claudia Andrade, 9-11, 11-3, 7-11, 11-4, 11-4, and Adriana Riveros upset veteran Jennifer Saunders, 8-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-3, 11-4.

In the second round of doubles qualifying, two matches went tie-breaker. In one, Sheryl Lotts and Masiel Rivera came back from 8-4 down in the breaker to defeat Cheryl Gudinas and Sharon Jackson, 15-7, 2-15, 11-10. In the other, the young team of Erika Manilla and Melania Sauma came from a game down to beat Adrienne Haynes & Veronica Sotomayor, 14-15, 15-11, 11-2.

Earlier in doubles, Michèle Morissette and Sofia Soley took the first game from veterans Gudinas and Jackson, but the veterans adjusted to win games two and three comfortably with the final scoreline of 11-15, 15-5, 11-0.

The qualifying rounds in singles concluded Wednesday with the Round of 32 and Round of 16 on Thursday, when they'll also play the quarterfinals in doubles.

2015 US Open - IRT Qualifying Results

They are through qualifying in the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) division at the 2015 United Healthcare US Open Racquetball Championships in Minneapolis, and we've had our first tie-breaker, which happened on the show court, appropriately. Gerardo Franco came back from two games to one down to defeat Dylan Reid, 12-10, 9-11, 5-11, 11-6, 11-7.

Franco will play Nicholas Riffel, who beat Christian Wer, 11-5, 11-9, 11-8, later today for a spot in the Thursday's Round of 32 against 5th seed Jose Rojas.

The second tie-breaker was also a comeback victory, as Jeremy Best overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Andres Acuña, 6-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-1, 12-10. Best will face Anthony Herrera in the next round of qualifying for a spot in the 32s versus Robert Collins.

Play will streamed live via the IRT Network from Wednesday at 6 PM CDT.

2015 US Open - LPRT Preview

The Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) draws - singles and doubles - for the 2015 United Healthcare US Open are below now. The LPRT qualify eight players into the Round of 32, and there are eighteen players vying for those spots, which means two rounds of qualifying - though only two matches in the first round.

The qualifying rounds will on Wednesday with the Round of 32 and Round of 16 on Thursday. They are also playing doubles in Minneapolis, and the two qualifying rounds are Wednesday with the four surviving teams moving on to the quarterfinals on Thursday.
