2011 Pan Am Games - Doubles Playoffs Day 1

The doubles playoff at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico has mostly gone according to the seedings. One exception is on the women's side, where the Ecuador team of Maria Cordova and Maria Munoz beat Bolivians Jenny Daza and Cinto Loma, 15-10, 2-15, 11-7, to reach semi-finals.

The other women's quarter finals were all decided in two straight games. Mexicans Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas defeated Canadians Josée Grand'Maître and Brandi Jacobson Prentice, 15-1, 15-2. Americans Rhonda Rajsich and Aimee Ruiz beat Dominican Republicans Claudine Garcia and Yira Portes, 15-2, 15-6. And Chileans Angela Grisar and Carla Munoz beat Veronique Guillemette and Dafne Macrino of Argentina, 15-12, 15-6.

On the men's side, Mexicans Alvaro Beltran and Javier Moreno are through to the semi-finals with a 15-4, 15-7 win over Colombians Francisco Gomez and Jose Torres.

Next up for Mexico will be the USA, as Chris Crowther and Shane Vanderson beat the Argentina team of Daniel Maggi and Shai Manzuri, 15-9, 15-6.

On the other side of the men's draw, it'll be Canada versus Venezuela in the semi-finals, as Canadians Tim Landeryou and Kris Odegard beat Bolivians Roland Keller and Ricardo Monroy, 3-15, 15-10, 11-8 and Venezuelans Cesar Castro and Jorge Hirsekorn won a three game match against 2nd seeds Teobaldo Fumero and Felipe Camacho, 9-15, 15-11, 11-6.

The racquetball competition's individual competition will conclude Saturday October 22 and a team competition will run Sunday October 23 to Tuesday October 25.
