Two more Mexico-USA showdowns will close out the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico on Tuesday, as those countries advanced to the team competition finals with wins in the semi-finals.
On the women's side, Mexicans Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas saw off Ecuador with a win in doubles over Maria Cordova and Maria Paz Munoz, 15-7, 15-3. Then Longoria beat Munoz in singles, 15-13, 15-10.
The American women got the final with a win over Bolivia. Rhonda Rajsich and Aimee Ruiz beat Jenny Daza and Cintia Loma in doubles, 15-6, 15-8, and Rajsich beat Loma, 15-4, 15-13, in singles.
On the men's side, Mexico defeated Colombia with a win in doubles, 15-11, 15-11, by Alvaro Beltran and Javier Moreno against Francisco Gomez and Jose Torres, and in singles as Gilberto Mejia beat Alejandro Herrera, 15-9, 15-3.
The USA defeated Ecuador in two matches. Chris Crowther and Shane Vanderson Jose Alvarez and Fernando Rios, 15-6, 15-1, and Rocky Carson defeated Rios, 15-6, 15-8.
The team competition concludes Tuesday October 25.
