World Racquetball Tour - 2013 Chile Open 16s

More lower seeds won in the Round of 16 at the 2013 Chile Open World Racquetball Tour (WRT) event in Vina del Mar, Chile, and American David Horn was the cause of one of them, as he defeated Mexican veteran Gilberto Mejia, 11-15, 15-4, 11-8.

Up next for Horn will be another Mexican veteran as he'll play 3rd seed Polo Gutierrez in the quarter finals on Friday. Gutierrez was a 15-2, 15-2 winner over Fernando Kurzbard in the 16s Thursday.

Fernando Rios also moved on to the quarters with a narrow victory over 7th seed Felipe Camacho, 13-15, 15-12, 11-9. Second seed Alejandro Cardona will be Rios opponent in the quarters, who also had a narrow victory in the 16s, as the Cardona squeaked out a win over Felipe Mercado in a tie-breaker, 13-15, 15-14, 11-9.

The other big upset was by Salvador Ortiz who beat 4th seed Sebastian Franco, 15-7, 8-15, 11-10. He'll face Anthony Herrera in the quarters, as Herrera defeated Pedro Castro, 15-10, 15-7, in the 16s.

The quarter-finals will be played Friday morning with the semi-finals Friday afternoon (3 PM & 4 PM) and final on Saturday (2 PM). Chilean time is the same as Eastern time in North America.

Matches can be viewed via the WRT website from Friday morning through the finals on Saturday afternoon.
