The Canadian Racquetball Championships are on in Burlington, Ontario, and there are new champions in Men's and Women's Doubles. In Women's Doubles, Michèle Morissette and Christine Richardson defeated last year's champions - Jennifer Saunders and Danielle Drury, 10-15, 15-6, 11-0 - to take their first Canadian title. Morissette and Richardson represented Canada in Women's Doubles at last year's Pan American Championships.
On the men's side, brothers faced off in the final, as it was Samuel Murray and Pedro Castro against Tommy Murray and Nicolas Bousquet with Samuel and Castro coming out on top, 15-8, 15-1. The win is the first for Castro, and the second for Samuel Murray, who also won Men's Doubles in 2014 with Vincent Gagnon as his partner.
In the semi-finals earlier on Tuesday, Castro and Murray beat Eric Desrochers and Tim Landeryou, 15-12, 15-12, while Bousquet and Murray defeated Lee Connell and Nathaniel Husulak, 3-15, 15-11, 11-3.
The singles competitions begin Wednesday. These championships are the last opportunity for players to earn points that will get them spots on the Canadian National Team that will compete at the 2016 World Championships in Cali, Colombia in July.
