Iwaasa into semi-finals at 2018 WRT Canadian Open

Coby Iwaasa - playing close to his hometown of Lethbridge, Alberta - is into the semi-finals of the World Racquetball Tour (WRT) Canadian Open in Calgary, Alberta, after defeating Jordy Alonso, 15-5, 15-9. He’ll play Gerardo Franco in the semis, as Franco pulled out a tie-breaker victory over Eduardo Portillo, 10-15, 15-10, 11-7.

On the top of the draw, it’ll be #1 versus #4 in the semi-finals, as David Horn, WRT #1, beat Luis Avila, 15-5, 15-12, and Andree Parrilla, WRT #4, defeated Canadian Samuel Murray, 15-10, 15-11, ending the hopes for an all-Canadian final in Calgary.

The quarterfinals continue Saturday afternoon with the semi-finals at 2:45 and 3:30 PM. The final Sunday at noon. You can watch the action from Calgary via the WRT website or its Facebook page.

The doubles draw has two play in matches Friday afternoon followed by the quarterfinals Friday night. The doubles semi-finals are Saturday afternoon with the doubles final Sunday at 2 PM. All times are Mountain.
