PARC XXVII Pan Am Championships - Singles Preview

The draws are out for the men's and women's singles elimination rounds at the XXVII Pan American Racquetball Championships in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. On the women's side there were a few matches of well known players Monday, but no real surprises in the outcomes, but a couple of upsets on the men's side.

On the women's side, the top half of the draw looks stronger with top seed Samantha Salas Solis of Mexico, Canadian Frédérique Lambert, Maria Jose Vargas of Argentina, and Ecuadorans Veronica Sotomayor and Maria Paz Muñoz, while on the bottom half of the draw are Americans Rhonda Rajsich and Janel Tisinger as well as Canadian Jennifer Saunders and Colombian Cristina Amaya.

In the men's draw, defending champion Polo Gutierrez of Mexico and American Jose Rojas - #3 on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) - are both on the top half of the draw, as is the rising Canadian star Coby Iwaasa. On the bottom of the draw are Vincent Gagnon, as the second seed, Carlos Keller of Bolivia, and Andree Parrilla of Mexico, who's the Junior World Boy's U16 champion.

The elimination round begins Wednesday after a rest day on Tuesday.

There will be live streaming of the elimination round semi-finals and finals on Friday and Saturday - April 18 and 19 - via the IRT Network.
