IRT Round of 32 at 2014 United Healthcare US Open Racquetball Championships

David Horn has the first upset in the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Round of 32 at the 2014 United Healthcare US Open Racquetball Championships in Minneapolis, as he beat 14th seed Thomas Fuhrmann, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-7. In the Round of 16 later today, Horn will play 3rd seed Alvaro Beltran, a winner against Fernando Rios, 11-2, 11-9, 4-11, 11-8.

The other upset in the 32s was by Danny Lavely, who defeated 15th seed Hiroshi Shimizu, 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, 11-5. Lavely will play IRT #2 Rocky Carson in the Round of 16 later today.

Shout out to Javier Moreno, the Mexican left-hander, a former World Champion in doubles, who gave his opponent Charlie Pratt a call at 10-8 in the first game of their match. With Pratt serving at 10-8, Moreno's shot to the front left corner was called good by the referee, but Pratt believed it skipped.

After a moment of consideration, Moreno told the referee that his shot was a skip and the first game was over. It's a show of sportsmanship that is not seen often enough in racquetball, especially at what could have been a turning point of a match - at game point in the first game, when it's uncertain who is going to win the match.

It was nice to see.

Play will streamed live via the IRT Network.
