Paola Longoria, the #1 player on Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT), won a rematch with Gabriela Martinez, the Women’s Singles International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Champion, at the Sweet Caroline Open, as Longoria beat Martinez 11-8, 11-8, 11-6, in Greenville, South Carolina. Martinez defeated Longoria at Worlds last year. Longoria will play 4th seed Maria Jose Vargas in the semi-finals later today, as Vargas won her match against 5th seed Rhonda Rajsich, 11-1, 11-6, 5-11, 11-7.
Nancy Enriquez had the sole upset of the quarterfinals, as she came back from two games down to defeat 3rd seed Alexandra Herrera, 6-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-2, 11-1. Enriquez will play LPRT #2 Samantha Salas, who was a straight game winner over 10th seed Adriana Riveros, 11-6, 11-9, 11-4.
The semi-finals will be Saturday at 5 PM and 6 PM Eastern. The doubles semi-finals are Saturday night at 7 and 8 PM. The singles final will be Sunday at 1 PM with the doubles final scheduled for 2 PM. You can watch the action live via the LPRT website, or the LPRT YouTube channel or its LiveStream channel.
