Jack Huczek ended a tournament winning dought of over two years on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) by defeating Rocky Carson, 7-11, 12-10, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, in the final of the New York City Pro-Am in Syosset, New York on Sunday. Huczek's last win came in October 2008 in Edmonton, Alberta at the Canadian Racquetball Classic.
Huczek's victory makes his career IRT record against Carson 21-14, although that doesn't count the two victories Carson had over Huczek at the last two International Racquetball Federation World Championships, including last summer in Seoul, South Korea.
The victory may be enough to move Huczek into 3rd on the IRT rankings ahead of Ben Croft, who was a quarter-finalist in New York, where he lost to Shane Vanderson.
The IRT's event is the Lawler Sports Pro-Am next weekend January 20-23 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
