The Men's Open final was a draw at the Lawler Sports Pro-Am in Terre Haute, Indiana, as finalists Lee Connell and Alejandro Herrera did a double default. Connell reached the finals by defeating Alok Mehta, 15-3, 15-5, while Herrera got there with a win over Adam Taylor, 15-10, 15-10.
Jose Martinez and Rich Bowman won the Men's Open Doubles title with a 15-8, 15-7 victory over David Schwent & John Scott. In the semi-finals, Martinez and Bowman defeated Dan Case & Kim Russell-Waselenchuk, while Schwent and Scott beat Andrew Price and Brad Schopieray by an injury default.
This Coming Weekend
This weekend there are no Tier 1 pro events, but there are two significant tournaments. In Cincinnati, the Women's Professional Racquetball Organization (WPRO) is having the 2011 Wilson Tour For Hope, which features some of the best WPRO players including Rhonda Rajsich, Cheryl Gudinas, and Kerri Wachtel, who's one of the tournament organizers.
Over in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the 33rd Lewis Drug event is going on. It's a Tier 2 International Racquetball Tour (IRT) event and has attracted several top players including Rocky Carson, Ben Croft, Jack Huczek, Chris Crowther and Shane Vanderson.
