LPRT - Abierto Mexicano de Racquetas Round of 16

Two big upsets and on minor one in the Round of 16 at the Abierto Mexicano de Racquetas tournament - a Grand Slam event on the Ladies Pro Racquetball Tour (LPRT) in Toluca, Mexico. Frédérique Lambert caused the biggest upset by defeating LPRT #2 Rhonda Rajsich in four games, 11-7, 11-8, 6-11, 11-6, to move into the quarter finals on Saturday.

There Lambert will play 10th seed Maria Paz Muñoz who upset 7th seed Da'monique Davis, 11-2, 7-11, 11-7, 11-0, in the 16s.

The other upset happened on the top side of the draw, as Linda Scales took out 4th seed Adrienne Haynes, 5-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-8. Scales will now face fifth seed Maria Jose Vargas in the quarter finals, as Vargas beat Carla Muñoz, 8-11, 11-2, 11-4, 11-5.

LPRT #1 Paola Longoria easily defeated 16th seed Sharon Jackson, winning in three straight games, 11-1, 11-6, 11-0. She'll play Veronica Sotomayor, who defeated Jennifer Saunders, 11-3, 11-3, 11-6, in the quarter finals, and that will be a rematch of the final from earlier this month in Stockton, California.

Finally, 3rd seed Susana Acosta beat Sofia Rascon in four games, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 11-2, and will play sixth seed Cristina Amaya in the quarters, as Amaya defeated Hailey Miller, 11-5, 11-3, 11-1, in the 156s.

The quarter finals begin Saturday morning at 10 AM with the and semi-finals Saturday evening at 6 PM and 7 PM, and the final Sunday at 6 PM.
