2018 South American Games - Elimination round begins

The elimination round has begun in Cochabamba, Bolivia at the 2018 South American Games, and the only result that is surprising is Bolivian Conrrado Moscoso’s win over Colombian Sebastian Franco in the quarterfinals. Not because Moscoso won, because he’s a good play, but that he did so decisively, 15-3, 15-0. Franco did have to play a match earlier in the day, but it was a relatively straight forward win, as he defeated Jonathan Luque Alvites of Peru, 15-3, 15-1.

Moscoso will play Jose Daniel Ugalde of Ecuador in the semi-finals on Thursday, as Ugalde beat Fernando Kurzbard of Argentina, 15-6, 15-1, in the quarters.

The South American Games occur every 4 years, and is the first of two quadrennial events this year. In the summer, the Central American and Caribbean Games will take place in Barranquilla, Colombia from July 19 to August 3.
