Jaime Martell won the World Racquetball Tour (WRT) 2018 Georgia Open in Lilburn, Georgia on Sunday by upsetting top seed Jake Bredenbeck, 15-8, 15-5, in the final. It’s Martell’s 2nd win on the WRT. His first came in 2016 at the Rocky Mountain Open, when he beat David Horn in the final. Martell defeated Horn in the semi-finals in Lilburn.
Martell and Francisco Troncoso took the WRT Doubles title also, although they won the final by default over Luis Avila and Hiroshi Shimizu. The win was Martell’s sixth WRT Doubles title, and Troncoso’s first. Martell had previously won with Alejandro Cardona (twice), Jose Daniel Ugalde (twice) and Joshua Hungerford.
The next WRT tournament isn’t until October, when the Canadian Open will happen October 17-21 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
