Alvaro Beltran did it again, as he defeated Rocky Carson, the International Racquetball Tour's (IRT's) 2nd ranked player, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-5, in the quarter finals of the Florida Spring Break Pro-Am in Tampa. He'll play the winner of 3rd seed Ben Croft and Anthony Herrera, whose match is still in progress.
Kane Waselenchuk, the IRT's #1 player, also advanced to the semi-finals with a straight game victory over Andy Hawthorne in the quarters, 11-2, 11-4, 11-7.
The 3rd and 4th seeds also won but both Ben Croft and Jose Rojas needed tie-breakers to get it to the semi-finals, and both faced an elimination game. Third seeded Croft was down 2-1 in gmaes to Anthony Herrera, but came back to win 11-1, 9-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8. Rojas was even worse off as he dropped the first two games to Shane Vanderson, but Rojas rallied to pull out the match, 6-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-4.
The IRT Network is web-casting the semi-finals from Tampa on Saturday beginning at 4 PM EST.
