USAR - 40th Wilson Junior Olympics - Saturday's results

Kaitlyn Simmons and Jordan Cooperrider won their divisions Saturday at the 40th Wilson USA Racquetball Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. Simmons won Girl's U16 by defeating Hollie Scott, 15-14, 15-0, in the final, while Cooperrider is the U14 Champion as she beat Erika Manilla, 15-5, 15-5.

The Girl's U18 Champion will be decided on Sunday, when Kelani Bailey and Samantha Simmons face-off for the second consecutive year. Bailey won last year and will be trying make it two in a row on Sunday.

Bailey and Simmons are the Girl's U18 doubles champions, although they were the only team entered. In fact, there were only four girls doubles teams across the U14, U16 and U18 divisions, so they were all put in a round robin play-off. Manilla and Cooperrider are the U14 doubles champions and came in second in the round robin.

Simmons and Ema Muslic were third in the round robin and the Girl's U16 doubles champions by virtue of defeating Danielle Falvey and Molly Manning the other team entered in U16 Girl's Doubles, 15-6, 15-11.

Boy's Divisions

There will also be a repeat of 2012 in Boy's U14, as top seed and defending champion Jordan Barth will play 2nd seed and last year's runner up Mauro Rojas in the final on Sunday. In the semi-finals, Barth defeated Justus Benson, 15-13, 15-3, gaining a measure of revenge as Benson beat Barth in the U16 quarter finals on Friday, while Rojas needed a tie-breaker against Wayne Antone before winning, 15-11, 14-15, 11-2.

In U16, Benson couldn't follow up his upset victory over Barth, as he fell to 5th seed Jake Bimel in the semis. Bimel will take on 6th seed Sam Bredenbeck in the final on Sunday, as Bredenbeck was a forfeit winner over Rojas.

The Boy's U18 final will be a repeat of last year's final in U16, as top seed Adam Manilla - last year's U16 Champion - will play 3rd seed Connor Laffey. In the semis, Manilla defeated 4th seed Zack Wertz, 15-6, 15-4, and Laffey upset 2nd seed Nicholas Riffel, 15-5, 11-15, 11-5.

The 40th Wilson USA Racquetball Junior Olympics concludes Sunday at the Oakmoor Racquet and Fitness Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
