2013 US Open - LPRT Round of 16

Janel Tisinger was the only upset winner in the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) Round of 16 at the 2013 United Healthcare US Open in Minneapolis, as she defeated 6th seed Maria Jose Vargas, 11-7, 11-2, 12-10, to reach the US Open quarter finals for the second time in her career. The first was back in 2009.

Tisinger will play 3rd seed Susana Acosta who defeated former US Open Champion Jackie Paraiso in five games, 11-8, 11-6, 4-11, 8-11, 11-2. The tie-breaker was all Acosta as she went out to a 9-0 lead before Paraiso got on the board. The left-handed Acosta hit three aces in the tie-breaker each time driving the ball to the right, Paraiso's forehand side. But the winning shot came from a forehand pinch to the front left corner.

In other action, 4th seed Samantha Salas Solis and 5th seed Cristina Amaya both won, although both needed four games to do so. Salas Solis beat 13th seed Maria Paz Munoz, 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3, and Amaya defeated 21st seed Jessica Parrilla, 11-8, 11-9, 6-11, 12-10. They'll play each other in the quarters later on Friday.

The LPRT Round of 16 continue Friday with the quarter finals Friday evening.
