2013 US Open - Top four seed through to LPRT semi-finals

In the quarter finals of the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) the seedings held true at 2013 United Healthcare US Open in Minneapolis on Friday, as the top four LPRT players all won their matches in the quarters.

LPRT #1, Paola Longoria dropped her first game against 8th seed Veronica Sotomayor, but then responded by coming back with three strong games to win 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4.

Longoria's opponent in the semi-finals will be her long time doubles partner, Samantha Solas Solis, who also needed four games to win her quarter final match against Cristina Amaya, winning 11-2, 6-11, 11-5, 11-4.

Third seed Susana Acosta had the toughest quarter final match, as she needed to come back from two games down to defeat Janel Tisinger, 11-13, 8-11, 12-10, 11-4, 12-10. Acosta will play in her first US Open semi-final since 1999.

In the semi-finals, Acosta, who had the hardest day Friday winning two five game matches, will play LPRT #2 Rhonda Rajsich, who arguably had the easiest Friday, she won her quarter final against Adrienne Haynes, 11-1, 11-2, 11-7. Rajsich did need four games to win her quarter final match against Carla Muñoz, but won two of those games 11-0.

Thus, the stage is set for another Longoria-Rajsich US Open final, which would be the fifth consecutive. Alternatively, there could be the first all Mexican US Open final.

The LPRT semi-finals will be Saturday with the final on Sunday.
