Longoria, Lambert into the quarterfinals at 2018 LPRT Boston Open

Paola Longoria, the #1 player on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT), won her first match at the 2018 LPRT Boston Open, as she beat Yazmine Sabja, 11-4, 11-6, 11-1. She’ll face Natalia Mendez in the quarterfinals Saturday after Mendez got the better of Cristina Amaya on Friday in the Round of 16, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8.

LPRT #2 Frédérique Lambert also won in the Round of 16 Friday, defeating Masiel Rivera, 11-4, 11-5, 11-9. Lambert plays USA veteran Rhonda Rajsich in the quarters after Rajsich took out Carla Muñoz in three games, 12-10, 11-5, 11-7, in the 16s.

In doubles, Sabja almost evened the score with Longoria, but the LPRT’s top player and her partner Samantha Salas defeated Sabja and Nancy Enriquez in a tie-breaker, 14-15, 15-12, 11-2. Longoria and Salas will play Lambert and Muñoz in the semi-finals Saturday, as Lambert and Muñoz also won a tie-breaker against Mendez and Maria Jose Vargas, 13-15, 15-6, 11-6.

The 2nd seeds in doubles - Alexandra Herrera and Maria Renee Rodriguez - also needed a tie-breaker to advance to the semi-finals, as they survived a battle with Brenda Laime and Masiel Rivera, 3-15, 15-7, 11-8. The only doubles match that didn’t go breaker was actually an upset, as 6th seeds Rajsich and Sheryl Lotts beat 3rd seeds Amaya and Adriana Riveros, 15-4, 15-5.

The quarterfinals will be Saturday morning at 10 and 11 AM and semi-finals Saturday at 4 PM and 5 PM. The singles final will be Sunday at 11 AM with the doubles final scheduled for noon. Check out the Live Streaming link on the LPRT website to see the action from Boston. All times Eastern.
