Round of 32 at 2018 WRT Canadian Open

The Round of 32 is done at the World Racquetball Tour (WRT) Canadian Open in Calgary, Alberta, and there have been no real surprises. The top Canadian players came through with wins. Samuel Murray beat Taylor Knoth, 15-1, 15-13; Coby Iwaasa defeated Sam Bredenbeck, 15-9, 15-11; and Tim Landeryou needed a tie-breaker to get past Canadian junior Ian Frattinger, 15-8, 6-15, 11-3.

However, Canadian veteran Lee Connell fell to young Mexican Eduardo Portillo, 15-7, 15-10. Portillo will play 2nd seed Jake Bredenbeck in the Round of 16.

Also in the 16s, WRT #1 David Horn will play Tanner Prentice who got the better of Mitch Brayley, 15-14, 15-11, in all Canadian showdown.

The 16s will be Friday afternoon, and the quarters will be Saturday beginning at 9:30 AM with the semi-finals at 2:45 and 3:30 PM. The final Sunday at noon. You can watch the action from Calgary via the WRT website or its Facebook page, and that will likely begin with the quarterfinals on Saturday.

The doubles draw has two play in matches Friday afternoon followed by the quarterfinals Friday night. The doubles semi-finals are Saturday afternoon with the doubles final Sunday at 2 PM. All times are Mountain.
