Re-matches will be the order of the day for the singles finals at the 2013 Pan American Championships in Cali, Colombia. On the men's side, American rookie Marco Rojas - current U18 Junior World Champion - will try to beat Mexican veteran Polo Gutierrez for a second time in the tournament as they faced off in the preliminary round, when Rojas squeaked out an 11-10 tie-breaker win.
To reach the semi-finals, Rojas defeated Bolivian Felipe Mercado, 15-12, 15-8, while Gutierrez beat Bolivian Carlos Keller, 15-3, 15-12.
On the women's side, there's also a rematch, but it's one that has happened regularly over the past few years, as Paola Longoria of Mexico and Rhonda Rajsich of the USA will play for gold in the women's final. Longoria and Rajsich are the #1 and #2 players on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) and have met in almost every pro tour final over the past three women's pro seasons.
In the semis, Longoria beat American Sharon Jackson, 15-8, 15-3, and Rajsich defeated Samantha Salas of Mexico, 15-9, 15-11.
