LPRT - Battle of the Alamo - Round of 16

Four upsets in the Round of 16 at the at the Battle of the Alamo Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) event in San Antonio, Texas, but only one of them was by one of the young players we were looking for in our preview of this event. That was Maria Jose Vargas, who upset 3rd seed Susana Acosta, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-2.

However, two younger veterans also upset higher seeds. Da'monique Davis beat 5th seed Adrienne Fisher Haynes, 7-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-9, and Cristina Amaya defeated 7th seed Kerri Wachtel, 11-5, 8-11, 12-10, 11-6.

Finally, Grace Hughes, the 9th seed, won the 8/9 match against 8th seed Krystal Csuk, 10-12, 11-3, 11-9, 11-2.

LPRT #1 Paola Longoria continued her winning streak Friday with a win over Veronica Sotomayor, 11-9, 11-2, 11-2. LPRT #2 Rhonda Rajsich also won, although she needed four games to defeat Linda Scales, 1-11, 11-7, 11-8, 13-11.

The quarter finals and semi-finals will be on Saturday with the final to follow on Sunday. The LPRT Network webcast the action from the quarter-finals on.
