IRT 24th Annual Turkey Shootout - Round of 16

Jose Diaz caused the only upset in the Round of 16 at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) 24th Annual Turkey Shootout in Garden City, Kansas, as he defeated 7th seed Charlie Pratt, 11-4, 11-7, 12-10. Diaz is seeded 10th.

Diaz will play IRT #2 Rocky Carson in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon, as Carson beat Nicholas Riffel, 11-3, 11-2, 11-2, in the 16s.

IRT #1 Kane Waselenchuk won his Round of 16 match comfortably, defeating Jacob Matthews, 11-2, 11-2, 11-0. Waselenchuk will play Tony Carson in the quarter, as Carson (no relation to Rocky) beat Matthew Majxner, 8-11, 11-1, 11-5, 13-11.

Third seed Jose Rojas had a slow start against Bradly Rogers, who won the first game of their match. But Rojas recovered, and won the next three games to take the match in four, 8-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-6. Rojas will play Jansen Allen in the quarters, as Allen defeated Robert Collins, 11-5, 11-4, 11-1.

Fourth seed Ben Croft started well, winning the first game against Tim Landeryou, 11-6, but Landeryou responded by winning game two, 11-9, at the end of which Croft slammed his racquet into the floor.

Croft then picked up the pace, and won games three and four, 11-2, 11-2, to win the match in four games. Marco Rojas (Jose's brother) will be Croft's opponent in the quarters, as Rojas beat Daeyong Kwon, 11-8, 11-0, 11-1.

The IRT Network will broadcast quarterfinal matches beginning at 4 PM Friday afternoon. The semi-finals will be Saturday at 4 PM and 5 PM with the final Sunday morning at 11 AM.
