The Women's and Men's Team competitions begin on Saturday at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico. The team competition is a best of three with two singles matches and a doubles match. The order of the matches will vary across the rounds, so the order is not necessarily singles, singles, doubles. Doubles could be the first, second or third match.
Only one match from day one needed three matches to determine the outcome. Colombia defeated Guatemala, 2-1. Alejandro Herrera defeated Edwin Galicia, 15-8, 10-15, 11-7, but Christian Wer beat Francisco Gomez, 15-9, 15-14, to force a third match, which was doubles. In that, Herrera and Andres Ramirez beat Galicia and Wer, 15-11, 15-4, to take the match.
