One upset in the Round of 16 at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Red Swain Shootout in Davison, Michigan, but not a dramatic one, as veteran Cliff Swain was a forfeit winner against 5th seed Chris Crowther. This is the second consecutive year that Swain has got past the 16 in this event, which is named in honour of his father.
Last year Swain reached the semi-finals. To do that this year, Swain will have to defeat 4th seed Daniel De La Rosa in the quarterfinals, as De La Rosa beat Mauricio Zelada, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7, in the 16s.
Both top seed Rocky Carson and second seed and defending champion Alvaro Beltran won their matches in the 16s, but needed four games to do so. Carson beat Felipe Camacho, 11-3, 11-3, 9-11, 11-4, and Beltran defeated Alejandro Herrera, 4-11, 11-4, 11-1, 11-4.
Third seed Jose Rojas also needed four games to win his Round of 16 match against Mike Green, winning 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8.
The IRT Network will have quarterfinal action live from Davison from 3 PM EST Friday.
