Alejandro Landa was the only upset winner in the Round of 16 at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) New Jersey Open in Warren, New Jersey, but that's not a big upset, as he was the 9th seed and defeated 8th seed Marco Rojas, 11-4, 8-11, 11-5, 11-8. Landa will play top seed Rocky Carson in the quarterfinals, as Carson beat Coby Iwaasa, 11-3, 11-2, 11-4, in the 16s.
One match in the 16 went tie-breaker, which was between 5th seed Jansen Allen and Jake Bredenbeck. Bredenbeck got up 2-1 on Allen, but Allen came back and won it in five games, 12-10, 9-11, 2-11, 11-8, 11-7, to set up a match with Daniel De La Rosa, who was a straight game winner over Fernando Rios, 11-5, 11-6, 11-4.
The IRT Network will have the quarterfinal action beginning at 4 PM EST Friday afternoon.
