Parrilla is out in the Round of 16 at IRT Raising Some Racquet For Kids

Andree Parrilla, who had a magical run into the finals at last weekend’s International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Shamrock Shootout in Lombard, Illinois, will not have such a run this weekend at the Raising Some Racquet for Kids tournament in Dayton, Ohio, as Mario Mercado defeated Parrilla, 11-9, 11-3, 11-7, in the Round of 16 Friday morning. In the quarterfinals later today, Mercado will face top seed and IRT #2 Rocky Carson, who beat Juan Martinez III, 11-1, 11-2, 11-6, in the 16s.

Only one upset in the Round of 16, as Samuel Murray defeated 5th seed Sebastian Franco in five games, 9-11, 11-5, 11-4, 10-12, 11-6. Murray will play Jose Rojas in the quarterfinals after Rojas beat Justus Benson, 11-7, 11-4, 8-11, 11-3, in the 16s.

The IRT Network will continue broadcasting the Round of 16 from Dayton, and then begin the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon and evening from 4-7 PM. Note: the semi-finals will be Saturday at 11 AM and noon with the final to follow at 7 PM.
