Paola Longoria and Gabriela Martinez defeated Cristina Amaya and Adriana Riveros, 15-5, 15-8, to claim the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) Doubles title at the 2017 UnitedHealthcare US Open in Minneapolis Saturday. It's the fourth year of LPRT Doubles at the US Open, and Longoria has won all four years, although with three different partners.
In 2014, she played with Veronica Sotomayor. In 2015 and 2016, Longoria played with her usual partner, Samantha Salas. But Salas had shoulder surgery in June, and wasn't able to play this year. Thus, Longoria teamed up with Martinez creating another successful partnership.
Longoria and Martinez started on fire, as they scored the first nine points of the match to go up 9-0 on the 4th seeded Amaya and Riveros. They maintained that advantage, and won game one 15-5. But in game two, the teams were neck and neck up 8-8.
That was when Longoria and Martinez again put a string of points together without giving up the serve, as they went on to win game two 15-8, and take the final in two straight games.
