Dylan Reid and Jenny Daza won the Men’s and Women’s Open divisions, respectively, at the 2017 UnitedHealthcare US Open in Minneapolis on Sunday. Reid, seeded 2nd, defeated #1 seed Mario Mercado, 4-15, 15-11, 11-8, in the Men’s final, while Daza an all-Bolivia Women’s final against Angelica Barrios, 15-2, 15-14.
Reid’s win was a margin of revenge, as he lost in the Men’s Open final to Mercado at last year’s US Open. Reid is the second US player to win Men’s Open in three years. Adam Manilla was the winner in 2015.
Daza’a win continues the streak of non-US players winning Women’s Open. Krystal Csuk is the only US player to win in the last eleven US Opens.
