Longoria & Enriquez win semis at 2018 LPRT Sweet Caroline Open

Paola Longoria and Nancy Enriquez will face off Sunday in the final of the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) Sweet Caroline Open in Greenville, South Carolina. Enriquez will be playing in her first LPRT final, while Longoria - the #1 LPRT player - will be in her 94th final.

Despite the difference in finals experience, they had similar paths to the final, as both dropped the first game of their respective semi-final matches, and then came back to win in four games. Longoria beat Alexandra Herrera, 6-11, 11-1, 11-4, 11-5, and Enriquez defeated Jessica Parrilla, 6-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-1.

Longoria has a chance to win both singles and doubles, as she and Herrera beat Sheryl Lotts and Rhonda Rajsich, 15-7, 15-2. They will meet Frédérique Lambert and Samantha Salas in the final, as Lambert and Salas defeated Parrilla and Carla Muñoz in the other semi, 15-4, 15-13.

Adding to the intrigue of the doubles final, Longoria and Salas have been a successful doubles team for many years, including three World Championships and two Pan American Games gold medals. But Sunday they will be playing against each other, and playing on the same side of the court, as both have been on the right side in Greenville. Longoria usually played the left side with Salas, but Herrera is a left-handed player, so Longoria’s on the right this weekend. It will be interesting to see how they serve to each other.
