Adam Manilla had the only upset win in the Round of 16 at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) March Madness event in San Antonio, Texas, as he defeated 5th seed Mario Mercado, 15-14, 8-15, 11-9. The win puts Manilla into the quarterfinals against 4th seed Alejandro Landa, who beat Manilla’s doubles partner Nicholas Riffel, 15-8, 15-7, in the 16s.
The other top 8 seeds all won in two games except for 6th seed Samuel Murray, who needed a tie-breaker to defeat Robert Collins, 12-15, 15-4, 11-3. Murray will play Jansen Allen in the quarters, as Allen beat Edwin Galicia, 15-7, 15-7, in the Round of 16.
The IRT Network will have the quarterfinal action from San Antonio Friday starting from 5:35 PM. The semi-finals will be at 10:10 AM and 11:15 AM Saturday with the final at 6:50 PM Saturday.
