IRT Singles Round 1 at 2021 UnitedHealthcare US Open

The first round of qualifying in the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Singles division is underway at the 2021 UnitedHealthcare US Open begins Wednesday in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sixty two players are vying for 16 spots in Thursday Round of 32 to face on of the tour's top 16 players in the Round of 32.

Cliff Swain is included in those 62 players, and he took a step forward to getting to the 32s by defeating Scott McClellan, 15-3, 15-9, in the 1st Round of Qualifying. In the 2nd Round, he'll face Nicholas Riffel, who was a winner over Geovani Mendoza, 15-2, 15-9. The winner of Swain-Riffel will play 7th seed Eduardo Portillo in the Round of 32 Thursday.

Two other matches to look for in the second round of qualifying. Veterans Felipe Camacho and Alejandro Herrera will square off, as Camacho beat Matias Arnez, 15-9, 15-2, and Herrera defeated Ben Baron, 15-7, 15-7. Also, Christian Wer plays Sam Bredenbeck in the second round of qualifying. Wear beat Benjamin Horner, 15-4, 15-1, in round 1, while Bredenbeck defeated Seth Sullivan, 15-6, 15-1.
