Alvaro Beltran and Daniel De La Rosa - the top seeds in the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) doubles division at the 2021 UnitedHealthcare US Open in Minneapolis, Minnesota - got pushed in their quarterfinal match by Conrrado Moscoso and Roland Keller, but managed to come out on top, 15-14, 14-15, 11-4. The win puts Beltran and De La Rosa into the semi-finals Friday night, when they will play another Mexican team in Javier Mar and Rodrigo Montoya.
Mar and Montoya were the only upset winners in the quarters, as they held on to defeat 4th seeds Andree Parrilla and Eduardo Portillo, 15-10, 12-15, 11-3.
On the other side of the draw, 2nd seeds Sudsy Monchik and Kane Waselenchuk defeated Kadim Carrasco and Carlos Keller in two close games, 15-13, 15-11. In the semis, they'll play 3rd seeds Alejandro Landa and Samuel Murray, who had the most lopsided quarterfinal win, beating the righty-lefty team of David Horn and Adam Manilla, 15-1, 15-8.
The US Open action can be seen via the usual IRT media outlets: The IRT YouTube channel or the IRT Facebook page. The doubles semi-finals are Friday night at 5:20 and 7:20 PM with the final at 6 PM Saturday.
