There were some great doubles matches on Monday at the 20th International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The Women's Doubles action was highlighted by the match of three time Women's Doubles World Champions Mexicans Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas and the hometown team of Gabriela Martinez and Maria Renee Rodriguez with the Mexicans coming out on top of two closely fought games, 15-12, 15-10.
In what we called the "Group of Difficulty," Americans Rajsich and Erika Manilla didn’t have much difficulty with Canadians Frédérique Lambert and Alexis Iwaasa, winning 15-7, 15-0.
In Men's Doubles, Canadians Coby Iwaasa and Samuel Murray came out on top of a very close match with Bolivians Roland Keller and Conrrado Moscoso, coming back to win in a breaker, 9-15, 15-13, 11-9.
Americans Alejandro Landa and Charlie Pratt were almost upset by the Ecuador team of Juan Francisco Cueva & Jose Daniel Ugalde (Ecuador) by managed to stave off match point and win, 14-15, 15-5, 11-10.
Finally from the We Believe We Had That Department, Argentina’s team of Shai Manzuri and Diego Garcia won their first match, defeating Set Cubillos & Mario Mercado (Colombia), 15-14, 15-11.
It seems that live streaming of matches won’t happen until the medal round. But check with the IRF website or their social media outlets (IRF on Facebook and @IRFRacquetball on Twitter) for updates.
