2018 LPRT Peachtree Open - Round of 32

Some notable upsets in the first round of the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) Peachtree Open in Lilburn, Georgia. Most notable was 24th seed Kelani Bailey taking out 9th seed Susana Acosta, 11-4, 11-4, 6-11, 9-11, 12-10. The 10th seed Adrianne Haynes also lost, falling to 23rd seed Daniela Molina, 12-10, 11-7, 11-6. In another five gamer, 21st seed Lucia Gonzalez upset 12th seed Eleni Guzman, 5-11, 11-3, 11-9, 4-11, 11-3. Finally, 18th seed Hannah Shnurman defeated 15th seed Cassandra Lee, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-4.

A result that was surprising by the scores was 8th seed Adriana Riveros blowing out 25th Sharon Jackson, 11-0, 11-1, 11-1, as Jackson is coming a win at the USA Racquetball National Doubles, where she and Bailey won the title and right to represent the USA in Women’s Doubles at this year’s International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Championships. Riveros is a good player, but for Jackson to get only 2 points is a surprise.

The Round of 16 begins this afternoon, and will feature the match up between #1 seed Jessica Parrilla and #16 Maria Vargas, as Vargas won her first match against 17th seed Brenda Laime, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7.

Third seed Frédérique Lambert could also be in tough with 14th seed Gabriella Martinez, who had a walkover win against Carolina Rivera.

The Round of 16 begins Friday afternoon. The quarterfinals will be Saturday morning (10 AM & 11 AM) and semi-finals Saturday at 4 PM and 5 PM. The singles final will be Sunday at 11 AM. All times Eastern. Check out the LPRT YouTube channel for the action or its LiveStream channel.
