Results for the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Cactus Salon New York City Pro-Am are slow to come out, but we have a partial run down of the Round of 16 for you. When we know exactly what happened in the preliminary rounds, we'll be sure to let you know.
For now, the big news is that IRT #4 Jose Rojas lost in three straight games to fellow Stockton player David Horn, 11-7, 11-5, 11-9. Rojas defeated Horn last week in the 16s at the California Open, but Horn turned the tables today.
Horn will play in his first career quarter final this afternoon against either Marco Rojas or Adam Manilla, the left handed US Junior National Team member who made it through Thursday's qualifying rounds.
The two top seeds both won comfortably in the Round of 16. IRT #1 Kane Waselenchuk defeated Alejandro Herrera, 11-3, 11-2, 11-1, and IRT #2 Rocky Carson beat Nick Montalbano, 11-4, 11-0, 11-4. Montalbano needed five games to beat Robert Collins in the last round of qualifying, so he may not have fully recovered for his match against Carson.
The IRT Network will carry the quarter finals beginning at 4 PM EST Friday afternoon.
