Andree Parrilla won Men’s Open at the 2017 Lewis Drug Pro-Am in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Sunday. He narrowly won the title by defeating Mario Mercado in the final, 15-13, 15-14. Parrilla defeated David Horn in one semi-final, 9-15, 15-5, 11-9, while Mercado beat Jordan Barth, 15-9, 15-13, in the other.
In the Men’s Open Doubles final, Sebastian Franco and Alejandro Herrera, the 2014 International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Champions, defeated Barth and Justus Benson, 15-13, 15-8, to take the title. In the semis, Franco and Herrera beat Art Spelts and Troy Vanbemmelen, 9-15, 15-0, 11-2, while Barth and Benson took out Lee Connell and Tanner Prentice, 15-8, 15-14.
This weekend’s main event will be the World Racquetball Tour’s (WRT's) 2017 West Coast Championship in Concord, California January 27-29. The International Racquetball Tour (IRT) is off until mid-March, when the Shamrock Shootout happens in Chicago, March 16-19, while the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) also doesn’t have an event until March, when they’ll be in Warren, New Jersey for the New Jersey Open, March 3-5.
