Cheryl Gudinas has reached the final of a Women's Professional Racquetball Organization (WPRO) Tier 1 event for the first time this season, as she defeated Rhonda Rajsich in the semi-finals of the Miller Lite Open in York, Pennsylvania. Gudinas got the win after falling behind two games to none, but mental toughness has got her many victories in her long career and did so again as she came back to win 7-11, 5-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-5.
Paola Longoria will face Gudinas in the final Sunday, as she defeated Adrienne Fisher in the other semi-final, 11-3, 11-9, 11-5.
Gudinas's victory over Rajsich should mean that regardless of Sunday's outcome Longoria will retain the #1 ranking ahead of Rajsich. Rajsich will have two more opportunities to overtake Longoria and finish the season #1.
The two remaining WPRO events this season are the In Shape Sport WPRO Racquetball Championships in Stockton, California April 22-25 and the WPRO Ektelon World Championships in New Orleans, May 6-9.
