The Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) is playing the second of a back to back events as they are in Herndon, Virginia this weekend for the SCS Title and Escrow Pro/Am beginning on Friday. There's a smaller draw than last weekend in San Antonio, but there should be several good matches.
However, there won't be a repeat of last weekend's final between Paola Longoria, the LPRT's #1 player, and Samantha Salas Solis, as they are on the same side of the draw, so would meet in the semi-finals, rather than the final.
However, to get there Salas Solis needs to beat Maria Jose Vargas, who went five games with Salas Solis in San Antonio, and over the course of the match outscored Salas Solis by a large margin. And that's only the first round match up.
Whoever wins will have to play the winner of Cheryl Gudinas and T. J. Baumbaugh in the quarter finals in order to have a chance at Longoria in the semis, assuming that Longoria wins her first two matches.
We'd be willing to bet that Longoria wins those first two matches, and maybe even the whole tournament, as she is on a winning streak that's almost two years long now.
On the bottom of the draw, Adrienne Fisher will play Jennifer Saunders with the winner to go against 3rd seed Susana Acosta or the winner of Sheryl Lotts and Veronica Nogales.
Also of interest, Kerri Wachtel will take on Da'monique Davis in the first round with the winner to likely go up against LPRT #2 Rhonda Rajsich in the quarters.
The action begins on Friday with the Round of 32 and Round of 16. The quarter finals and semi-finals will be on Sunday with the final to follow on Sunday. The LPRT Network webcast the action from the quarter-finals on.
