Ahead of Wednesday's qualifying rounds at the US Open, the big news is that Shane Vanderson - the International Racquetball Tour's (IRT's) 7th ranked player - has withdrawn due to personal family reasons. We wish Vanderson the best at this difficult time.
The IRT draw for the US Open has changed this year from last as the main draw starts with the Round of 32 with the top 16 players receiving seeds into that round and everyone else having to qualify for the other 16 spots. Previously at the US Open the IRT draw has started at the Round of 64. The top seeds in qualifying are Alvaro Beltran, Felipe Munoz, and Felipe Camacho.
The Women's Professional Racquetball Organization (WPRO) draw also starts at the Round of 32, but the top 24 players are seeded for that round with the other players competing for the remaining 8 spots. The top seeds in WPRO qualifying are Aimee Ruiz and Sheryl Lotts.
Follow the bouncing ball....
