Maria Jose Vargas, the #3 player on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT), had to come back from two games down to defeat 11th seed Veronica Sotomayor, 4-11, 10-12, 11-5, 11-1, 11-4, at the Ektelon Pro Nationals in Herndon, Virginia.
The win puts Vargas in the semi-finals against LPRT #2 Rhonda Rajsich, who defeated 10th seed Da'monique Davis, 11-2, 11-3, 11-5, in the quarters.
On the top half of the draw, the #1 and #4 seeds advanced to the semis, as
Paola Longoria continued her winning streak with a win over Aubrey Kirch, 12-10, 11-1, 11-4, and Samantha Salas Solis beat Cristina Amaya, 11-6, 11-4, 11-6.
The LPRT Network will webcast the semi-finals and the women's pro doubles semi-finals Saturday night.
