2014 Pro Kennex IRT Tournament of Champions Qualifying Results

The 2014 Pro Kennex Tournament of Champions, which is the last event of the 2013-14 International Racquetball Tour (IRT) season is underway in Portland, Oregon, and there were no real upsets in the qualifying matches on Thursday.

Connor Laffey did have an upset win over Alejandro Herrera, but that was by forfeit. Nonetheless it does give the junior American player a chance to play 4th seed Jose Rojas in the Round of 16.

There are a few interesting matches in the 16s, including former #1 Cliff Swain versus 7th seed Chris Crowther with the winner to likely face 2nd seed Rocky Carson in the quarter-finals.

Also, Oregon native Charlie Pratt will be up against Jansen Allen in the 8/9 seed match, as well as an all Mexican battle between veteran Alvaro Beltran and Andree Parrilla, the current U16 World Junior Champion. And Japanese veteran Hiroshi Shimizu faces Ben Croft.

The IRT Network will broadcast qualifying Thursday from 4 PM PDT and the Round of 16 beginning at 10 AM PDT Friday. Note that the final will be Saturday night at 7:00 PM PDT.
