2015 LPRT Pro Nationals - Quarterfinals

Maria Jose Vargas narrowly defeated Michelle Key in the quarterfinals of the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) Pro Nationals in Herndon, Virginia, as their match went the distance and then some. After splitting four lopsided games, Vargas won the tie-breaker in extra points, making the final score 2-11, 11-2, 0-11, 11-4, 13-11.

The match comes a day after Key defeated Cheryl Gudinas, and likely sewed up a spot on Team USA for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. If anyone doubts she could be a medal threat in Toronto, she can point to this performance as evidence she can.

Vargas, the LPRT #2 player, will play LPRT #3 Rhonda Rajsich in the quarters later Saturday, as Rajsich defeated #6 Cristina Amaya in three games, 11-8, 11-8, 11-5.

On the top of the draw, LPRT #1 will play #4 Frédérique Lambert in the semi-finals after they both won their respective quarterfinals in three straight games. Longoria defeated 9th seed Da'monique Davis, 11-0, 11-2, 11-4, while Lambert had closer games with 5th seed Samantha Salas, winning 11-5, 13-11, 11-9.

The semi-finals are at 5 PM and 6 PM EDT. Matches can be viewed via the LPRT Livestream channel.
