Kane Waselenchuk took another step towards his 10th International Racquetball Tour (IRT) season ending #1 title with a win over Rocky Carson in the final of the Krowning Moment Pro Invitational in Edinburg, Texas. Waselenchuk defeated Carson in three straight games, 11-4, 11-(-1), 11-3.
It's a victory that should put Waselenchuk ahead of Carson in the rankings with two events to go in the season. The next of those events - the Pro Kennex Tournament of Champions in Portland, Oregon May 14-17 - is only Tier 2 points, so that shouldn't influence the overall rankings much.
However, last event - the Fresno IRT Summer Kickoff in Fresno, California May 28-31 - will be full points, and a win for Carson there might be enough to claim the IRT's #1 position at season's end.
Carson was the IRT #1 player for the 2007-08 season, but Waselenchuk has finished #1 every season since.
