WRT 2015 Midwest Championships - Round of 32 & 16

From the Wily Veteran Dept., Cliff Swain upset 5th seed Anthony Herrera, 15-9, 15-13, in the Round of 16 at the World Racquetball Tour (WRT) Midwest Championships in Minneapolis. Swain, two time US Open Champion, has recently moved to the Twin Cities, so it's a hometown victory for him.

It looked like Herrera was going to force a tie-breaker with Swain, as he led in game two 10-3, but Swain fought all the way back to tie it at 12-12. He then went on to win it, scoring the final point with a forehand pinch into the front left corner.

Swain will face 4th seed David Horn in the quarterfinals on Saturday, as Horn defeated Minnesota native John Goth, 13-15, 15-3, 11-0.

But Goth and Alejandro Romo won their doubles match against 4th seeds Mario Mercado and Francisco Troncoso, 15-11, 15-10. They'll take on top seeds Herrera and Horn, who were winners over Brian Pearson and Dan Salamone, 15-10, 15-1.

The quarterfinal action will be live streamed beginning at 10 AM CDT Saturday. Look for a link on the WRT Facebook page. Also, both the singles and doubles finals will streamed on Sunday - at noon and 1 PM, respectively.
